THIS IS HOUSE MUSIC

sd

So I'm using my last free day for awhile to assess all damages to my apartment made by the snow storm that was the Christmas holiday weekend. What is everyone doing New Year's Eve?

In the meantime, enjoy this recent Radio 1 Essential Mix recording by the best DJ I've ever had the pleasure to experience live (three times!) Felix da Housecat. This way we can listen to the same thing! While you might be doing something far more glamorous, I will be purging my closet of all unnecessary items. Enjoy!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday! I'm in between Christmas parties ... meanwhile it's snowing (!) and I'm taking shelter in my favorite Kenzo Minami cardigan. I wear it every year, I guess you could call it tradition at this point. I picked up this charming dress shirt from a cute kid from Hong Kong. I love Asian street fashion and cute label names (this shirt is by Time's End). I'm also sporting an early Christmas gift from my boyfriend, a skull ring by Alexander McQueen.

This iPhone picture doesn't do it justice. The real scoop on this ring is yet to come, more on that later ... Enjoy your holiday everyone!

Love,
Justin & Reves Mecaniques

SNEAK PEEK: LANVIN 2010 ADS

Gorgeous.

JE T'AIME: MATTHEW BARNEY

So, I was having tea with a dear friend last night, and somehow the conversation turned to Matthew Barney. Known mostly for his ambitious work in film (and his now-defunct marriage to Bjork), Barney's work is captivating and well, kind of weird. I had the pleasure of seeing his last "film" Drawing Restraint 9 during a limited run in Dallas a few years ago and I'm still floored by his singular, inimitable style both behind and in front of a camera. I remember seeing a review of the film, a 3 hour meditation on Japan, whaling ships, bodily fluids, etc. (all without a stitch of dialogue), and reading something along the lines of "... If only Barney went commercial ... directing the next 2001: Space Odyssey." What a dream?! Watch a clip from Drawing Restraint 9 below:

SLIMANE SHORT

Oh, Hedi. How do I love thee? My boo Hedi Slimane teamed up with V MAN to create a short film featuring 16 year-old Oscar Nilsson, star of the Royal Danish Ballet Theater. Click here to view!

THE CRAZIEST FASHION MOMENTS OF 2009

according to OH NO THEY DIDN'T

OK, so I haven't been updating as much recently; what can I say? The holidays are busy and I'm caught in the middle. I promise to share more original content very soon. In the meantime, click the link above for a laugh!

WHEN THE ACTOR REACHES HIS DEATH

YOU KNOW IT'S NOT FOR REAL, HE JUST HOLDS HIS BREATH.

Just thought to mention that I have a radio thing going on at Blip.FM/dontwannaknow since it appears I'm in a musical state of mind lately :)

"HI WE'RE HOLE, AS IN ..."

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ANNE BOLYN, CHOKERS ARE BACK IN AGAIN

The title of this post is taken from the exquisite song "Old Age," written by one of the most underrated performers and lyricists of our time, Ms. Courtney Love Cobain. It appears she's lost custody of her daughter again, a sad twist in the (lately) sad saga of the 90's rock icon. Wishing you the best, Courtney! Her next album with an (allegedly) reformed Hole might be released ... sometime ... maybe? The video below is proof that while this life may get the best of her sometimes, Courtney will rock to the end.

GARETH PUGH + SHOWSTUDIO

One of the most amazing things I've ever seen ... although it's an entirely different experience on a very large screen. I just got a new "television" (it's more like a portal to heaven) that is web-enabled and even though I've seen this short film countless times since it's release, I cannot stop watching it in HD on 50". Brilliant.

NUMERO 2

I wanted to share a look featuring the vintage monkey fur (yes, monkey fur) jacket and since I'm not used to taking photos by myself with a tripod this was the best one worth uploading. Once I get someone to take some full body shots I'll post them ASAP.

Monkey Fur jacket: vintage, black dress shirt: Maison Martin Margiela, sunglasses: Prada

PETITE TAILLE

via The Cut

It's been announced that my beloved Dior Homme will be making menswear for ladies. Yes, it sounds confusing. The collection of jeans and trousers will be produced under the "Petite Taille," ("small size"), moniker for women who either already wear DH or would like to but can't because the denim sizes run too large. The jeans will have a stretchy component and will still sting your pocketbook like the little black bumblebee synonymous with the Dior Homme designs of my imaginary bf Hedi Slimane (prices range from $407 - $1,185 USD).

AND ANOTHER THING

I've been eyeing this vintage Gucci ashtray for awhile. Nothing screams DISCO like a never-used, 70's era gold-plated metal and leather Gucci ashtray. $325 at Archive Vintage, Dallas, Texas.

WISH LIST #1

I want everything in this set. Period.
