JE T'AIME: JEAN-CHARLES DE CASTELBAJAC

With all the bustle surrounding Lady Gaga's video collaboration with Beyonce for "Telephone," I imagine that people might easily forget the fact that Gaga doesn't necessarily always wear her own designs (under the Haus of Gaga moniker). Gaga has publicly expressed her love for Thierry Mugler, Giorgio Armani and Alexander McQueen, in addition to turning up for a Barbara Walters interview in a gorgeous, hot-off-the-runway Chanel suit (couture, no less). Her high-profile professional coupling with super-stylist Nicola Formichetti also means she is basically the highest-priority client  for fashion houses hoping to achieve that ever-elusive "household name" status.

Gaga and Beyonce are rocking (a lot of) Jean-Charles de Castelbajac in the aforementioned video. I've always adored JC de Castelbajac's irreverent creations, as he is in the vein of other pop-culture obsessed designers like Jeremy Scott and, before him, Franco Moschino. I thought I'd post some of my favorite looks from the house of Castelbajac:

S/S 2009

F/W 2009

The infamous Kermit jacket.
